Agatha Harknes

Hello! You’ve reached my Agatha shopping list. If you are looking to build your own magical girl cosplay, here is a list of products I used to create mine. For more tips and tricks, visit my blog for tutorials. By the way, some of the links featured below are affiliate links. If you click and purchase one of products, I might receive a small commission at no cost to you. Thank you for supporting my cosplay addiction!

Fabric

Cape – For Agatha’s cape, I purchased two sets of the iridescent Isis wings and dyed them. They sell purple ones if you don’t want to go through the trouble of dying the fabric, but that material didn’t have the iridescent shine that the white ones had.

Dress – This fabric isn’t as sheer as the material used for Agatha’s dress in the show, but the texture was really close. I wanted something that already had a pleat in it to save me some of the time it would take to try and set them.

Lining – This is one of my go to fabrics for costumes. It mimics some historical fabrics and is an affordable alternative to silks. I’ve used this fabric for everything from 50’s styles dresses to renaissance gowns. One side is shiny and the other has a nice texture. It’s sturdy and holds up well in structured pieces.

Accents – I found some iridescent netting at Joann’s, but I can’t find it on the website. So… yeah…

Paint and Dye

Spray Paint – Iris, Rainwater, Bluegrass, Black I *really* underestimated how much paint this project would take. I ended up having to order more halfway through. In total, I used 3 cans of iris, 2 cans of black, and one can of rainwater and bluegrass. I could have used one more can of iris, but I didn’t want to order another so I made it work.

iDye Poly – This is probably my favorite dye for synthetic fabrics. Make sure you use it in a well ventilated area, the fumes are no joke.

Miscellaneous

Brooch – I purchased my brooch on Etsy. There are tons of options to choose from. It’s had to get a good look at Agatha’s brooch in the show, so lots of them are abstract and minimal. But there are lots of options that resemble the three figures featured on the piece.

Beads – Boy, this was probably the hardest part to track down. I searched everywhere to find something the resembled the beads that run up the side of Agatha’s bodice and along the sides of the cape. I finally found these little beauties on Etsy. Super fast shipping, too. That was a plus because I originally missed hadn’t noticed the beads on the bodice and had to order more FOUR DAYS BEFORE THE CON!!!

Wig – This was the same wig I used for my Wonder Woman cosplay. I wasn’t in love with it for that character, but all the extra teasing and backcombing I did for Agatha really brought it to life.
